Method

Cupcake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Fill Cupcake Liners

Using a scoop or spoon, fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with batter.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool

Remove the cupcakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 8

    Beat the Frosting Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and unsalted butter until creamy and smooth.

  2. 9

    Add Sugar and Vanilla

Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined and fluffy.

  3. 10

    Frost the Cupcakes

Once the cupcakes have completely cooled, frost them generously with the cream cheese frosting using a spatula or piping bag.
