Method

Preparing the French Toast

  1. 1

    Whisk the Egg Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Soak the Bread

Dip each slice of thick-cut bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are soaked well. Allow excess to drip off.

  3. 3

    Cook the French Toast

In a skillet or griddle over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.

Making the Cinnamon Syrup

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, water, and ground cinnamon.

  2. 5

    Cook the Syrup

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until it thickens slightly.

  3. 6

    Add Vanilla

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
