Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4-5 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook Spaghetti

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions (usually around 8-10 minutes) until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside. Do not rinse.

Making Bolognese Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the finely chopped onion, carrot, and celery to the pan. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened.

  3. 6

    Add Garlic

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

  4. 7

    Brown the Meat

Add 500g of ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned (about 5-7 minutes).

  5. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Wine

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Mix well to combine.

  6. 9

    Season the Sauce

Add the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

  7. 10

    Simmer

Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer, uncovered, for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serving

  1. 11

    Combine

Once the sauce has thickened and developed flavor, serve it over the cooked spaghetti.

  2. 12

    Garnish

Top with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
