Method
Meatballs
- 1
Prepare Meatball Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
- 2
Form Meatballs
Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs about 2 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Cook Meatballs
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Sauce
- 4
Prepare Sauce
In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté 1 clove of minced garlic until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Season
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and stir in dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- 6
Simmer Meatballs in Sauce
Return the meatballs to the skillet and cover. Let them simmer in the sauce for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Spaghetti
- 7
Cook Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring 2 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt and the spaghetti. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 8
Drain Spaghetti
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and return it to the pot.
Assembly
- 9
Combine Spaghetti and Sauce
Add the meatball sauce to the pot with the drained spaghetti. Toss gently to combine, ensuring the spaghetti is coated with sauce.
- 10
Serve
Plate the spaghetti and meatballs. Garnish with additional grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
