Meatballs

Marinara Sauce

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 2

    Mix the Meatball Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

  3. 3

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. 4

    Bake the Meatballs

Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 5

    Sauté the Onion and Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 7

    Add Fresh Basil

Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before removing the sauce from the heat.

Assembly and Serving

  1. 8

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the marinara sauce in the skillet. Gently stir to coat the meatballs with the sauce.

  2. 9

    Add Topping

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the meatballs and sauce. Cover the skillet and let it cook for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.

  3. 10

    Serve

Garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve hot over pasta or on a sub roll for meatball sandwiches.
