Method

Meat Sauce Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and ground pork. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes, breaking the meat into small pieces as it cooks.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine with Tomatoes

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

House-made Cheese Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix the Cheese Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, egg, chopped parsley, and salt. Mix until well combined.

Lasagna Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Noodles

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Lasagna

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Repeat with another layer of meat sauce, noodles, and the remaining cheese mixture. Top with more meat sauce and a final layer of noodles.

  3. 7

    Final Topping

Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese on top of the lasagna. Drizzle olive oil over the top.

  4. 8

    Bake the Lasagna

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  5. 9

    Rest and Serve

Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy!
