Method
Prepare the Bread
- 1
Slice the Bread
Using a serrated knife, slice the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2 inch thick slices.
- 2
Brush with Olive Oil
Lay the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush one side with olive oil.
- 3
Grill the Bread
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Grill the bread slices, oiled side down, for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Flip and grill the other side for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Prepare the Topping
- 4
Dice the Tomatoes
Chop the tomatoes into small, even dice and place them in a mixing bowl.
- 5
Mince the Garlic
Peel and mince the garlic cloves finely and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes.
- 6
Chop the Basil
Tear or chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the tomato mixture.
- 7
Season the Mixture
Add balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the bowl, and gently toss all the ingredients together until well combined.
Assemble the Bruschetta
- 8
Top the Grilled Bread
Once the bread is grilled, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato mixture generously over the grilled side of each slice of bread.
- 9
Serve
Arrange the bruschetta on a platter and serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
