Meatballs

Method

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Mix Well

Using your hands or a spatula, mix the ingredients until they are well combined, ensuring not to overmix.

  3. 3

    Form Meatballs

Shape the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter and place them on a baking sheet.

  4. 4

    Sear Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and sear them until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Sauté Garlic

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add olive oil and minced garlic over medium heat. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine.

  3. 7

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 8

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Add the browned meatballs back into the skillet with the marinara sauce. Cover and simmer for an additional 20 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.

  5. 9

    Finish with Basil

Stir in the fresh basil and cook for another 2 minutes.
