Baking Instructions
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it is hot enough for baking.
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth. Stir to combine and set aside to cool slightly.
- 3
Mix the Batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and egg yolks until well combined and slightly frothy. Add the melted chocolate and butter mixture, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until fully incorporated.
- 4
Add Flour
Sift the all-purpose flour into the chocolate mixture and fold gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 5
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 7
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen the cake, then invert onto individual plates. Serve immediately, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
