Bread Ingredients

Method

Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the activated yeast and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  6. 6

    Shape the Dough

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a loaf.

  7. 7

    Second Rise

Place the shaped loaves into greased bread pans. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.

  8. 8

    Preheat and Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the loaves for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.

  9. 9

    Cool and Serve

Remove the bread from the pans and let cool on a wire rack. Serve warm with butter.
