Method

Preparing the Cake

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the pans from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cakes to a wire rack to cool completely.

Preparing the Frosting

  1. 7

    Beat the Butter

In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy.

  2. 8

    Add Powdered Sugar

Gradually add the powdered sugar, and beat on low speed until combined. Increase the speed and beat until fluffy.

  3. 9

    Add Cream and Vanilla

Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract to the frosting. Beat until the frosting is smooth and spreadable.

Assembling the Cake

  1. 10

    Layer the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top.

  2. 11

    Add Second Layer

Place the second cake layer on top of the frosting. Cover the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.

  3. 12

    Decorate

Optionally, you can decorate the cake with sprinkles or fresh fruits as desired.
