Raspberry Melba Sauce

Garnish & Potatoes

Method

French Toast Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Soak the Bread

Dip each slice of Texas bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated thoroughly.

  3. 3

    Cook the French Toast

Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the soaked bread slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Filling Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Monte Cristo

On two slices of cooked French toast, layer one slice of ham and one slice of Swiss cheese. Top with the other slices of French toast to form a sandwich.

Raspberry Melba Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Make the Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine fresh raspberries, sugar, and lemon juice over medium heat. Cook until the raspberries break down and the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Serve the assembled Monte Cristo on a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with the raspberry Melba sauce. Accompany with your choice of cooked potatoes.
