House-made Chai Tea Recipe

Method
Prepare the Tea

Boil Water
In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

Add Black Tea
Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add 4 teaspoons of black tea leaves. Let it steep for 5 minutes.
Infuse with Spices

Simmer
Return the saucepan to low heat and let the tea and spices simmer together for an additional 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Sweeten and Serve

Strain the Tea
After simmering, strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into a teapot or another saucepan to remove the tea leaves and spices.

Add Milk (Optional)
If desired, add 1 cup of milk to the sweetened tea and stir well. Heat gently if you prefer a warm chai.

Pour the house-made chai tea into cups and enjoy warm.
