In a large skillet or griddle, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to foam but not brown.

Take each slice of thick bread and dip it into the egg batter, allowing it to soak for about 10-15 seconds on each side. Ensure the bread is well coated but not soggy.

Place the soaked bread slices onto the hot skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
