Method

Preparing the Potatoes

  1. 1

    Peel and Chop Potatoes

Begin by peeling the potatoes and then chopping them into small, evenly sized pieces, about 1-inch cubes for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Boil the Potatoes

Place the chopped potatoes in a pot and cover them with water. Add 1 tsp of salt to the water. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.

  3. 3

    Drain and Mash Potatoes

Once the potatoes are cooked, drain the water and return them to the pot. Add 2 tbs of butter and 1 tbs of milk. Mash the potatoes until they reach a creamy consistency. Adjust salt to taste.

Preparing the Toast

  1. 4

    Toast the Bread

While the potatoes are cooking, place the slice of bread in a toaster and toast until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Butter the Toast

Spread 1 tbs of butter on the hot, toasted slice of bread until it is melted and evenly coated.
