Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, warm the milk until it is lukewarm (about 110°F). Add the active dry yeast and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, stirring gently. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Cinnamon Sugar Coating Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare Cinnamon Sugar

In a medium bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Mix well.

  2. 7

    Melt Butter

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and set aside.

Monkey Bread Assembly

  1. 8

    Prepare the Dough Balls

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small pieces (about 1 inch in size). Roll each piece into a ball.

  2. 9

    Coat the Dough Balls

Dip each dough ball into the melted butter, then roll it in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

  3. 10

    Layer in Bundt Pan

Grease a bundt pan and layer the coated dough balls inside, stacking them as you go.

  4. 11

    Second Rise

Cover the bundt pan with a towel and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until the dough has puffed up.

Baking

  1. 12

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 13

    Bake the Bread

Bake the monkey bread in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  3. 14

    Cool and Invert

Allow the monkey bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 15

    Make the Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Mix until creamy and well combined.

  2. 16

    Frost the Bread

Drizzle the frosting over the warm monkey bread before serving.
