For the Brown Sugar Butter

Method

Preparing the Waffle Batter

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.

Making the Brown Sugar Butter

  1. 4

    Mix Butter and Sugar

In a small bowl, blend the softened unsalted butter and brown sugar together until creamy and well combined. Set aside.

Cooking the Waffles

  1. 5

    Preheat Waffle Iron

Preheat your Belgian waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  2. 6

    Cook the Waffles

Once preheated, pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the center of the waffle iron (usually about 1 cup, depending on your waffle maker). Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, typically about 5 minutes.

  3. 7

    Serve

Carefully remove the waffles from the iron. Serve warm with a dollop of brown sugar butter on top and a selection of fresh blueberries, strawberries, sliced bananas, and chopped pecans on the side.
