Method
Roast Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare the Beef
Take the Black Angus beef roast out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to ensure even cooking.
- 2
Season the Roast
In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chopped rosemary, and chopped thyme. Rub the mixture all over the beef roast, ensuring it is well coated.
- 3
Sear the Roast
In a large skillet or roasting pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, sear the roast on all sides until it is browned, approximately 3-4 minutes per side.
- 4
Roasting the Beef
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the seared roast in a roasting pan and pour the beef broth around the roast. Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the roast.
- 5
Cook the Roast
Roast the beef in the preheated oven for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare. Adjust time based on preferred doneness.
- 6
Rest the Roast
Once cooked, remove the roast from the oven and cover it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for at least 15-20 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
- 7
Slice and Serve
After resting, slice the roast against the grain into thin slices. Serve on a carving station for guests to enjoy.
