Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Start by slicing the kielbasa into bite-sized pieces. Chop the onion and mince the garlic. Set them aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until it is crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to drain, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.

  3. 3

    Sauté Onion and Garlic

In the same skillet with the bacon fat, add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 4

    Add Kielbasa

Add the sliced kielbasa to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sausage is browned.

  5. 5

    Combine with Sauerkraut

Stir in the sauerkraut, caraway seeds, black pepper, salt, apple cider vinegar, and water. Mix everything well.

  6. 6

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  7. 7

    Finish and Serve

Crumble the cooked bacon and stir it back into the dish before serving. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot.
