Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of olive oil. Slice the onion thinly and add it to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until the onions are golden brown and caramelized.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a separate skillet, cook the bacon slices over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Panini

On one slice of ciabatta bread, layer the smoked turkey, crispy bacon, caramelized onions, and Fontina cheese. Top with the other slice of bread.

  4. 4

    Grill the Panini

Preheat a panini press or skillet over medium heat. If using a skillet, place a heavy pan on top to press the sandwich. Grill for 3-5 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
