Activate yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (about 110°F/43°C) with active dry yeast. Stir and let sit 5 minutes until foamy.

Mix dry ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt until evenly distributed.

Combine and knead
Pour the foamy yeast mixture into the flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Lightly oil a clean bowl, place dough inside, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 60 minutes, until doubled in size.

Prep dairy and sausage
Shred mozzarella cheese and grate parmesan. In a skillet, brown Italian sausage until cooked through, crumble, and drain excess fat.

Add toppings
Sprinkle mozzarella over the crust, scatter sausage crumbles, then dust with grated parmesan and red pepper flakes.

Bake and serve
Bake in a preheated oven at 475°F (245°C) for 12–15 minutes, until crust is golden and cheese is melted. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
