Preparation
- 1
Brew the Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and let it cool. If using coffee liqueur, mix it into the espresso once cooled.
- 2
Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture becomes pale and creamy. This should take about 5 minutes.
- 3
- 4
Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined, being careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
Assembly
- 6
Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 7
Layering
In a 9x13 inch dish, arrange half of the dipped ladyfingers in a single layer. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- 8
Repeat the Layers
Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 9
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for the best flavor.
Serving

Dust with Cocoa
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder.
- 11
Slice and Serve
Slice the tiramisu into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your classic Italian dessert!
