Method

Prepare Croutons

  1. 1

    Make the Croutons

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the French bread into cubes. In a bowl, combine the cubed bread with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the bread is evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Bake the Croutons

Spread the bread cubes on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and let cool.

Prepare Dressing

  1. 3

    Blend the Dressing

In a bowl, whisk together the Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Assemble the Salad

  1. 4

    Prepare the Salad

Wash and chop the romaine lettuce into bite-sized pieces. In a large bowl, combine the chopped romaine and anchovy fillets.

  2. 5

    Combine and Serve

Drizzle the dressing over the romaine and anchovies. Toss gently to combine. Add the croutons and toss again. Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese if desired.
