Method

Beef Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix just until combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Shape the ground beef mixture into a patty, approximately 7 ounces in weight and about 1-inch thick.

Cooking the Patty

  1. 3

    Cook the Beef Patty

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef patty and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.

Sautéing the Vegetables

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions and Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil or butter. Add sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until onions are translucent and mushrooms are browned.

Assembling the Texas Melt

  1. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Once the patty is cooked, top it with Swiss cheese and cover the skillet with a lid for about 1 minute, or until the cheese is melted.

  2. 6

    Toast the Bread

While the cheese is melting, toast the Texas toast slices in a separate skillet until golden brown on both sides.

  3. 7

    Build the Sandwich

Place the cheeseburger patty on one slice of the toasted Texas toast. Top with the sautéed mushrooms and onions, then place the second slice of Texas toast on top.
