Main Ingredients

Au Jus Sauce

Optional Toppings

Method

Preparation of Au Jus Sauce

  1. 1

    Make the Au Jus

In a medium saucepan, combine beef broth, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembling the French Dip

  1. 2

    Prepare the Hoagie Buns

While the au jus is simmering, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the hoagie buns in half and place them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for about 5 minutes or until lightly golden.

  2. 3

    Add Roast Beef and Cheese

Remove the buns from the oven and layer with sliced roast beef. Top with Swiss cheese slices. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Serving

  1. 4

    Serve with Au Jus

Remove the sandwiches from the oven and let them cool for a minute. Serve the French dip sandwiches with a small bowl of the prepared au jus for dipping. Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
