Method

Preparation of Shrimp

  1. 1

    Boil the Shrimp

Fill a large pot with water and add the juice of half the lemon. Bring the water to a boil.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Chill the Shrimp

Remove the shrimp from the pot and place them in an ice bath (a bowl of ice water) to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain the Shrimp

Once cooled, drain the shrimp and pat them dry with paper towels.

Preparation of Cocktail Sauce

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well until fully combined.

  2. 6

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more horseradish for extra heat or more ketchup for sweetness.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Shrimp

Arrange the chilled shrimp on a serving platter or individual serving dishes.

  2. 8

    Serve with Sauce

Serve the shrimp with the prepared cocktail sauce for dipping. Garnish with lemon wedges if desired.
