Spicy Remoulade
Method
Fried Green Tomatoes
- 1
Prepare the Tomatoes
Wash the green tomatoes and slice them into 1/4-inch thick slices.
- 2
Set Up Breading Stations
In one bowl, place the flour, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In a second bowl, pour the buttermilk. In a third bowl, place the cornmeal.
- 3
Bread the Tomatoes
Dip each tomato slice first into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess, then into the buttermilk, and finally into the cornmeal, pressing gently to coat.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Tomatoes
Carefully add the breaded tomato slices to the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Once fried, remove the tomatoes and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
Spicy Remoulade

In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, chopped capers, chopped parsley, lemon juice, and garlic powder.
- 8
Season to Taste
Add salt and black pepper to taste, mixing well until combined.
- 9
Chill and Serve
Refrigerate the remoulade for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
