Mousse Preparation

Melt the Chocolate
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Place the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (double boiler method). Stir until the chocolate and butter are melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Whisk the Egg Yolks
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar together until pale and creamy. Add the vanilla extract and pinch of salt, and mix well.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg yolk mixture until well combined.

Chill the Mousse
Spoon the chocolate mousse into serving dishes or glasses. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set.
Whipped Cream Preparation

Prepare the Whipped Cream
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.

Top the Mousse
Once the mousse is set, remove it from the refrigerator and top each serving with a dollop of whipped cream.
