Cocktail

1

Build and stir

Place a mixing glass or pint glass on a bar mat. Add 2 oz Wild Turkey 101 Rye, 0.5 oz demerara syrup, 3 dashes Angostura bitters and 1 dash orange bitters to the mixing glass.

2

Add ice and chill

Fill the mixing glass with large cubed ice (enough to come nearly to the top). Using a bar spoon, stir gently but firmly for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until the outside of the mixing glass is noticeably chilled and slightly frosted. This both chills and dilutes the drink to balance the high-proof rye.

3

Strain

Place a large ice cube or two fresh large cubes into an Old Fashioned or rocks glass. Double-strain the stirred mixture into the glass over the ice using a Hawthorne or fine mesh strainer to catch any small chips.

Garnish

4

Express oils from the orange peel over the surface of the drink by holding the peel with the exterior facing down about 3 inches above the drink and giving it a quick, firm squeeze to spray the oils. Rub the peel around the glass rim, then drop it into the drink.

5

Optional: Skewer a Luxardo cherry on a pick and rest it on top or drop it into the glass for an extra touch.
