Patty Preparation

Prepare the Beef Mixture
In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to combine without overworking the meat.

Form the Beef Balls
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions, each weighing approximately 3 oz. Roll them into balls.
Cooking the Patty

Smash the Patties
Place the beef balls onto the hot skillet. Using a heavy spatula, smash each ball down into a patty about 1/2 inch thick.

Cook the Patties
Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are browned and the juices start to bubble out.

Melt the Cheese
Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each one. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese has melted.
Assembling the Burger

Toast the Buns
Toast the brioche buns on the skillet for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Add the Patty
Place a cheesy smashed patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun.

Add Pickles
Top each patty with a generous portion of pickles.

Cover with the top half of the bun to complete the burger.
