Preparation

- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth and fully combined.
- 3
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and egg yolks until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring continuously to prevent cooking the eggs. Add the vanilla extract and salt.
- 5
Add Flour
Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.
- 7
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is soft and jiggly.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Allow the cakes to cool for 1 minute before carefully inverting them onto plates. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
