Oysters

Serving Garnishes

Method

Preparing the Oysters

  1. 1

    Shucking the Oysters

Using an oyster knife, carefully insert the blade at the hinge of the oyster. Twist the knife to pop the shell open, then slide the knife along the inside of the top shell to detach the oyster from the shell. Place the oyster on a serving plate with the deeper shell facing down.

  2. 2

    Cleaning the Oysters

Rinse the opened oysters under cold running water to remove any residual grit or shell fragments. This ensures a clean taste.

Serving the Dish

  1. 3

    Plating

Arrange the oysters on a chilled plate or platter. Ensure they are placed securely to avoid tipping over.

  2. 4

    Adding Garnishes

Place a lemon wedge on the side of the platter and serve with small bowls of cocktail sauce and hot sauce for dipping.
