French Toast

Method

French Toast Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until fully combined.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Skillet

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter or oil.

  3. 3

    Coat the Bread

Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.

  4. 4

    Cook the French Toast

Place the soaked bread in the hot skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Filling Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the French Toast

Spread 1 tablespoon of dijonnaise on one side of each slice of French toast.

  2. 6

    Layer the Filling

On four slices of French toast, layer 2 slices of smoked black forest ham and 2 slices of gruyere cheese.

  3. 7

    Assemble the Sandwich

Spread 1 tablespoon of fig jam on the other slice of French toast, then place it jam side down on top of the filling to create a sandwich.

Cooking the Monte Cristo

  1. 8

    Prepare the Skillet for Cooking

In the same skillet used for the French toast, add a little more butter or oil if necessary and heat over medium heat.

  2. 9

    Cook the Sandwiches

Carefully place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side, pressing down gently with a spatula.

  3. 10

    Cool and Slice

Once cooked, remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool slightly before slicing.

Home Fries Preparation

  1. 11

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut them into small cubes.

  2. 12

    Cook the Home Fries

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the cubed potatoes, salt, pepper, and paprika.

  3. 13

    Finish Cooking

Cook the potatoes for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are crispy and golden brown.
