Method
Fried Chicken Preparation
- 1
Marinate Chicken
In a large bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken thighs, ensuring they are completely submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare Flour Mixture
In a shallow dish, combine flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Coat Chicken
Remove chicken from marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Set aside on a wire rack.
- 4
Fry Chicken
In a large pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully add chicken thighs in batches, frying for about 5-7 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
Waffle Bun Preparation
- 5
- 6
Cook Waffles
Preheat a waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions. Pour batter into the waffle iron and cook until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes. Repeat until all batter is used.
