Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Patty Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

House-Made Pickles Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Cucumbers

Slice the cucumbers into thin rounds or spears, depending on your preference.

  2. 4

    Make the Pickling Solution

In a saucepan, combine the white vinegar, water, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar and salt dissolve.

  3. 5

    Combine Cucumbers and Solution

Place the sliced cucumbers in a jar, add dill and garlic cloves, then pour the hot pickling solution over the cucumbers. Ensure they are fully submerged.

  4. 6

    Cool and Refrigerate

Let the pickles cool to room temperature before sealing the jar and refrigerating. Allow them to pickle for at least 24 hours for best flavor.

Cooking and Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. If adding cheese, place it on top of the patties in the last minute of cooking.

  2. 8

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

  3. 9

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of the bun, layer lettuce, cooked patty, tomato slice, and top with house-made pickles. Place the top half of the bun on and serve.
