Method

Vegetables

  1. 1

    Wash and prepare

Rinse all vegetables thoroughly under cold running water. Pat dry with clean towels or spin dry to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Carrots

Peel carrots if desired. Cut each carrot in half lengthwise, then into sticks about 3–4 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. For a fancier look, use a vegetable peeler to create ribbons for some pieces.

  3. 3

    Cucumbers

Trim the ends of the cucumbers. For English cucumbers, optionally peel alternating stripes for contrast. Slice into 3–4 inch spears or into 1/4-inch rounds if you prefer bite-size.

  4. 4

    Bell peppers

Cut each bell pepper in half, remove seeds and membranes, then slice into 3–4 inch strips about 1/2 inch wide. Use different colors for visual variety.

  5. 5

    Cherry tomatoes and radishes

Leave cherry tomatoes whole. Trim radish ends and slice in halves or quarters depending on size. If radishes are large, consider thin slices.

  6. 6

    Celery

Trim the base and leafy tops. Cut stalks into 3–4 inch sticks, leaving a little curve for presentation.

  7. 7

    Broccoli & cauliflower

Cut into small, bite-size florets (about 1 to 1½ inches). Rinse and pat dry. If you prefer a slightly tender-crisp texture and brighter color, blanch in boiling salted water for 45–60 seconds, then shock in ice water and drain well.

  8. 8

    Finish vegetables

Toss any tomato or cucumber slices very lightly with the optional 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt if using. Lightly drizzle or brush a little olive oil on cut peppers or carrots to prevent drying if desired. Arrange vegetables in separate groups on a large platter or in a ring pattern around the dip bowl for an attractive display.

Ranch Dip

  1. 9

    Combine base

In a medium mixing bowl, combine 1 cup plain Greek yogurt and 1 tablespoon mayonnaise. Whisk until smooth.

  2. 10

    Season

Add 2 tablespoons buttermilk, chopped chives, parsley, and dill. Stir in 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp black pepper. Add 1 tsp lemon juice if using. Taste and adjust seasoning—add more buttermilk for a thinner consistency or more herbs/salt as desired.

  3. 11

    Chill

Cover and refrigerate the dip for at least 20 minutes to let flavors meld. If short on time, it can be served immediately, but chilling improves flavor.

  4. 12

    Serve

Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and garnish with a pinch of chopped chives, a sprinkle of dill, and a drizzle of olive oil if desired.

Assembly & Presentation

  1. 13

Place the bowl of chilled ranch dip in the center of a large serving platter or board.

  2. 14

Arrange prepared vegetables around the bowl in groups by type or in color segments (e.g., red tomatoes and peppers together, green cucumbers and celery together) to create an appealing display. Stand some sticks vertically by tucking them into a bed of parsley or by leaning them against the dip bowl for height.

  3. 15

Scatter a few microgreens or parsley sprigs around the platter for a fresh look and drizzle a little olive oil over any veggies you want to highlight.

  4. 16

Keep extra dip chilled and replenish as needed. Serve immediately or within 2 hours at room temperature; refrigerate leftovers promptly.
