Build the drink
Fill an old-fashioned (rocks) glass with 4 large ice cubes. Pour 1 oz Campari and 1 oz sweet vermouth over the ice.
Garnish
Express the oils of an orange twist over the surface by holding the twist skin-side down and giving it a quick pinch above the glass, then run the peel around the rim and drop it into the drink as a garnish.
Serve immediately as an aperitivo. Adjust club soda to taste for a slightly stronger or lighter drink.
