Preparation
Prepare fruit
Peel the banana and break it into chunks. If using a fresh mango, peel, pit, and dice to yield about 1/2 cup. If using a fresh orange instead of juice, peel and segment it, removing seeds and as much pith as possible.
Blending
Layer ingredients in the blender
Add liquids (water/coconut water and yogurt) to the blender first. Then add the banana chunks, frozen mixed berries, diced mango, and orange juice or segments. Sprinkle in the flax or chia seeds, vanilla, and the honey or maple syrup. If you want a colder or thicker smoothie and you're not using all frozen fruit, add the ice cubes on top.
Blend to desired consistency
Secure the lid and blend on medium-high for 30–60 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides once if needed. Blend longer for a very smooth texture or briefly for a chunkier texture. If the smoothie is too thick, add additional water or coconut water 1 tablespoon at a time and pulse until you reach the desired consistency.
Taste and adjust
Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness with additional honey or maple syrup if needed (add in 1/2 teaspoon increments). If flavor is flat, add a small squeeze of lemon or increase the orange juice by 1 tablespoon to brighten the taste.
Serving & Garnish
Pour the smoothie into two glasses. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately with a straw.
If not serving right away, cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours; stir or shake before serving (texture may change as seeds absorb liquid).
