Method

Prepare the Patties

1

Mix the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

2

Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty about 1 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Bacon

3

Fry the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

4

Grill the Patties

In the same skillet or on a grill, cook the beef patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

5

Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the skillet or grill to melt the cheese.

Assemble the Burger

6

Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each burger bun, place a leaf of lettuce, followed by one cheese-topped patty, two pieces of crispy bacon, another cheese-topped patty, and finally drizzle with barbecue sauce.

7

Top the Burger

Add a slice of tomato and place the top half of the burger bun on top to complete the Dead Man's Burger.
