Setup

1

Assemble and preheat

Place the V60 dripper on top of your server or mug. Fold the paper filter along the seam and place it inside the dripper. Put the dripper+server on the scale and tare to zero.

2

Boil water in the kettle. You want water temperature around 92–96°C (197–205°F). If you don't have a thermometer, bring to a boil and let sit ~30 seconds.

3

Pour ~50 ml of hot water over the paper filter to rinse it and warm the dripper and server. Let the water drain through, then discard the rinse water from the server and tare the scale to zero again.

Grind & dose

4

Grind coffee

Weigh 20 g of fresh whole beans. Grind to a medium-fine drip setting (similar to table salt — slightly finer than standard drip, coarser than espresso). Transfer grounds into the preheated paper filter in the dripper and level the bed gently.

Brew

5

Bloom (0:00–0:40)

Start your timer. Begin by pouring 40 g (ml) of hot water evenly over the grounds to saturate them completely. This is the bloom pour to release trapped CO2. Let the coffee bloom for 30–40 seconds.

6

First pour (0:40–1:00)

At ~0:40–0:45, slowly pour water in a steady concentric spiral from the center outward and back, avoiding pouring directly on the filter. Pour until scale reads 160 g (ml) total water. Maintain a steady, moderate flow with the gooseneck kettle; pouring time for this step should take about 15–20 seconds.

7

Second pour (1:00–1:40)

When the water level falls slightly (about 20–30 seconds after previous pour), pour again in a controlled spiral to reach 260 g (ml) total water on the scale. This pour should be gentle and even, taking ~20–30 seconds.

8

Final pour & drawdown (1:40–2:30+)

If needed, add the remaining water slowly to reach 320 g (ml) total. Stop pouring and allow the coffee to draw down. Target total brew time (from first pour start) is about 2:15–2:45 minutes. If drawdown is much faster, grind finer; if much slower, grind coarser next time.

Serve & clean

9

When drawdown is complete (the last drip has slowed to about 1–2 seconds between drops), remove the dripper and discard the used grounds and paper filter. Swirl the server gently to homogenize the brew.

10

Pour the brewed coffee into your cup and enjoy immediately. Clean the dripper and rinse equipment with hot water.
