Coffee Base

Sweetener & Flavor (optional)

Method

Coffee Base

  1. 1

Brew cold brew concentrate (if not already prepared)

Coarsely grind 1 cup of medium-dark roast coffee beans and combine with 4 cups cold water in a large jar or French press. Stir to saturate grounds, cover, and steep in the refrigerator (or at room temperature) for 16–20 hours. Strain through a fine mesh sieve and/or coffee filter to yield a concentrated cold brew. Chill completely before using.

  2. 2

To prepare the nitro coffee for serving, dilute the cold brew concentrate with cold water at a 2:1 concentrate-to-water ratio (adjust to taste). For this recipe, combine 2 cups cold brew concentrate with 1 cup cold water in a clean container and stir gently to combine.

Sweetener & Flavor (optional)

  1. 3

If you want sweetened or flavored nitro coffee, add simple syrup (2 tbsp) and vanilla syrup (1 tsp) to the diluted cold brew and stir gently until incorporated. Add a pinch of salt to round out bitterness. Taste and adjust sweetness or flavor as desired.

Nitro Infusion / Serving

  1. 4

Chill the serving glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes or fill with ice while preparing to keep the nitro beverage cold (remove ice before pouring).

  2. 5

Using a nitro stout faucet keg system

If you have a nitro keg setup: fill a sanitized keg with the prepared cold brew mixture, seal it, and set the regulator to 30–35 psi with nitrogen. Let the keg settle and carbonate for 12–24 hours (you can shake gently to speed infusion for small batches). When ready, dispense through the stout faucet — hold the glass at a 45° angle and pull the tap, then straighten the glass and let a creamy head form. Serve immediately.

  3. 6

Using an iSi nitro whipped-cream dispenser

If using an iSi-style whipped-cream dispenser: pour up to the maximum fill line with the prepared cold brew. Screw on the head, insert one nitrogen cartridge (check manufacturer’s instructions for the correct cartridge type and number), shake the canister vigorously 8–10 times to infuse, then let rest chilled for 5–10 minutes. Hold the dispenser upright and dispense into a chilled glass, holding the spout close to the glass and releasing in short bursts to create a cascading, creamy pour. If the nutro effect is weak, refrigerate and recharge with another cartridge and shake again.

  4. 7

Garnish and serve: no additional garnishes are necessary; the signature is a velvety, cascading crema and smooth texture. Serve immediately. Store any leftover nitro-infused coffee in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours (flavor and crema decline quickly).
