Taco Shells

Taco Filling

Method

Prepare Taco Shells

1

Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.

2

Fry the Tortillas

Once the oil is hot, carefully add one corn tortilla at a time and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 1-2 minutes per side. Use tongs to flip and remove the tortillas, placing them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

3

Shape the Shells

While the tortillas are still warm, gently fold them in half and place them in a taco holder or on a baking sheet to maintain their shape.

Prepare Taco Filling

4

Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Make sure to break it apart with a spatula as it cooks.

5

Add Seasoning and Water

Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the cooked beef, then pour in the water. Stir well to combine and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens.

Assemble Tacos

6

Fill the Shells

Take each taco shell and fill it generously with the beef mixture.

7

Add Toppings

Top each filled taco with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and sliced jalapeños as desired.
