Cocktail Base

Method

Prep

  1. 1

    Rim (optional)

If you want a sugared rim, run a lemon wedge around the glass rim, then dip the rim into sugar or colored sanding sugar. Chill the prepared glass in the freezer for 2–3 minutes while you mix the drink.

Mixing

  1. 2

Fill a cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with crushed or cubed ice.

  2. 3

Add citrus vodka (1.5 oz) and raspberry vodka (1.5 oz) to the shaker.

  3. 4

Pour in fresh lemonade (3 oz). Use fresh-squeezed lemonade for best bright citrus flavor.

  4. 5

Add blue raspberry syrup (0.5 oz) to bring the vivid blue color and a hint of berry sweetness. If using blue curaçao instead, expect slightly more orange flavor and less sweetness.

  5. 6

Add raspberry flavoring or raspberry syrup (0.5 tsp) to enhance the raspberry aroma and flavor. If using a thicker raspberry syrup, reduce to 0.25 tsp and taste before adding more.

  6. 7

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold and the ingredients are well combined.

Assemble & Garnish

  1. 8

Remove the chilled glass and fill with fresh ice if desired. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass over ice.

  2. 9

Garnish with 3 fresh raspberries skewered on a pick and a lemon wheel on the rim.

  3. 10

Serve immediately with a straw. Optionally, gently stir once to create a slight swirl of blue and pink for a ‘razzle dazzle’ layered appearance.
