Cocktail
Method
Prepare and Mix
Chill glass
Place a Champagne flute in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail. Empty ice water just before assembling.
Combine base ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 4 ice cubes, 1.5 oz gin, 0.75 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup.
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds until well chilled (shaker becomes cold and slightly frosted). This chills and dilutes the mixture appropriately.
Strain into glass
Double-strain the shaken mixture into the chilled Champagne flute to remove small ice shards and any pulp from the lemon juice.
Top with sparkling wine
Carefully top the flute with 3 oz Champagne (or dry sparkling wine) poured slowly down the side to preserve bubbles and prevent overflow. The final ratio may leave a small head of foam—this is normal.
Serve
Serve immediately while the Champagne is effervescent. Note: adjust simple syrup to taste if you prefer sweeter or drier.
