Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Select a highball or copper mule mug and fill it about three-quarters full with ice (approximately 1 cup). Chilling the mug briefly in the freezer beforehand is optional but adds to the presentation.

  2. 2

    Muddle lime

Cut half a fresh lime into 2–3 wedges. Place the lime wedges in a mixing glass or directly in the mug. Add 0.25 oz simple syrup. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, press and twist the lime wedges a few times to release juice and essential oils from the peel; avoid over-muddling to prevent bitterness.

  3. 3

    Add vodka

Pour 2 oz Tito's Handmade Vodka into the mug (or mixing glass) over the muddled lime and simple syrup.

  4. 4

    Top with ginger beer

Gently top the cocktail with 4 oz of chilled ginger beer. Pour slowly over the back of a bar spoon if you prefer a gentler mix and a layered look.

  5. 5

    Stir and adjust

Give the drink 4–6 gentle stirs with a bar spoon to combine the vodka, lime, and ginger beer without flattening the carbonation. Taste and, if desired, add up to 0.25 oz additional simple syrup for sweetness or another squeeze of fresh lime for brightness.

  6. 6

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim and an optional mint sprig. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
