Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Chill a copper mug or highball glass by placing it in the freezer for a few minutes or filling with ice water while you assemble the ingredients. Discard the ice water before building the cocktail.

2

Muddle lime and berries

In the chilled mug (or a mixing glass), add the half lime (cut into 2–3 wedges) and the optional huckleberries if using. Add the 1/2 tsp simple syrup. Using a muddler, gently press and twist the fruit 6–8 times — just enough to release the lime juice and huckleberry juices without pulverizing the skins. You want aromatic oils and bright juice, not a paste.

3

Add spirits and ice

Add 2 oz 44° North Huckleberry Vodka to the mug. Fill the mug about three-quarters full with crushed ice (roughly 1 cup). Stir gently for 5–8 seconds to chill and integrate the muddled juices with the vodka.

4

Top with ginger beer

Carefully top the cocktail with 4 oz chilled ginger beer. Give the drink one gentle stir (1–2 revolutions) to lift the ginger beer through the ice without flattening the carbonation.

5

Finish and garnish

Taste and, if needed, add an extra 1/4 tsp simple syrup or a few drops of lime juice to balance. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge and an optional mint sprig. If you used huckleberries, place 2–3 on top for visual appeal.

6

Serve

Serve immediately with a straw or short stirring spoon so the drink can be occasionally refreshed. Enjoy cold.
