Prepare shaker
Fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice to chill and dilute the drink properly.
Measure and combine
Measure 2 oz Jameson Irish Whiskey, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters into the shaker over the ice.
Shake
Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold (this both chills and lightly dilutes the cocktail).
Prepare glass
Fill a rocks glass with fresh ice (large cube or several smaller cubes).
Strain
Using the strainer, double-strain the cocktail from the shaker into the prepared rocks glass over the fresh ice.
Optional lengthen
If you prefer a longer, lighter drink, top with about 1.5 oz club soda and gently stir once to combine.
Garnish
Garnish the cocktail with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Express the oil by giving the lime a light squeeze over the drink before dropping it in.
