Citrus-Ginger Base

Method

Citrus-Ginger Base

1

Prepare ginger infusion

Place the grated fresh ginger and 2 tablespoons of filtered water in a small bowl or jar. Muddle or press the ginger for 30–45 seconds to extract juice. Let sit 2–3 minutes, then strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a measuring cup, pressing solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard solids.

2

Mix juices and sweetener

Combine 1 cup fresh orange juice and 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice in a small pitcher. Add the strained ginger juice and 2 teaspoons honey. Stir vigorously until the honey is fully dissolved. If honey is too thick, warm it slightly (5–10 seconds in microwave) before adding.

Spice & Finish

3

Season and chill

Add a pinch (about 1/8 tsp) of ground cayenne pepper and a 1/4 teaspoon (heaping) of sea salt to the juice mixture. Stir for 10 seconds to evenly incorporate. Taste and adjust: add more cayenne for heat or more honey for sweetness, keeping the shot concentrated.

4

Assemble shots

Fill four small shot glasses with one ice cube each (or use crushed ice if preferred). Divide the mixture evenly among the four glasses (about 1/4 cup or 60 ml per shot). If using crushed ice, pour over crushed ice and leave a small spoon for drinker to stir.

5

Garnish and serve

Garnish each shot with one fresh mint leaf. Serve immediately while chilled. Provide napkins — these are concentrated, spicy-citrus wellness shots best enjoyed quickly.
