Can/Bottle Preparation
Chill the beer
Place the longneck lager or pilsner in the refrigerator for several hours until well chilled (ideally 38–45°F / 3–7°C). If you have limited time, submerge the bottle in an ice-water slurry for 10–15 minutes.
Optional bucket service
If serving multiple guests, fill a small ice bucket or large serving bowl with the ice. Nestle the chilled bottles upright in the ice so they remain cold throughout service.
Open and serve
When ready to serve, dry the neck of the bottle with a napkin. Twist the cap off a longneck bottle using a bottle opener. For cans, pull the tab to open. Serve immediately, placing a lime wedge on the rim or alongside if desired.
Accoutrements
Prepare lime wedges
Cut a lime into 6–8 wedges. Offer one wedge per bottle so guests can squeeze it into the beer or rub it around the rim according to preference.
Optional garnish
If using cornichons or small pickled vegetables, present them on a small dish so guests can nibble between sips. These savory bites complement the crisp beer.
