Method
Prep & Glass
Salt the rim
Run the lime wedge around the outside rim of a rocks or coupe glass (the part that will contact the rim). Spread the coarse salt on a small plate and gently press the rim into the salt so an even, thin ring adheres. Set glass aside.
If using a rocks glass, add one large ice cube. If serving up, chill the glass in the freezer while you mix.
Mixing
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1 large lime), 0.75 oz orange liqueur, and 0.5 oz agave syrup.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 3/4 full). Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold and slightly frosted. This dilutes and chills the cocktail properly.
Finish & Serve
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass: use the shaker's built-in strainer and a fine mesh strainer (if available) to remove ice shards and any pulp for a clean texture.
Garnish with the lime wheel or wedge on the rim (or floated). Serve immediately.
Optional: For the herbal twist, lightly slap 3 mint leaves between your palms to release aroma, add to shaker with other ingredients before shaking. For a softer orange note, add 0.5 oz fresh orange juice to the shaker with the other liquids.
